Ukrainian Ministries will work on gender budgeting since June 2018

During June-July, with the support of the GRB Project, a series of trainings on the specifics of integrating a gender approach to the budget process for the key spending units (KSUs) will be held. The main goal is to strengthen the institutional capacity of ministries in implementing the budget reform. Starting in 2019, the KSUs will be involved in implementation of gender responsive budgeting.

On June 4, the first seminar for the first group of ministries (the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of Ukraine and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of Ukraine) started. The seminar was opened by Volodymyr Lozytsky, Director of the State Budget Department of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine. He noted that the Ministry of Finance in cooperation with the GRB Project developed a Methodology for the integration and use of gender responsive approach to the budget process, which will be provided to the ministries, and he added that trainings on GRB will help ministries to introduce a gender perspective in its budgeting process.

The next seminars for the first group will be held on 18.06, 25.06, 16.07, 31.07.

For the fourth group of ministries (Ministry of Defense of Ukraine, Ministry for Temporary Occupied Territories and Internally Displaced Persons of Ukraine, Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine) – 12.06, 21.06, 4.07, 24.07, 31.07
