GRB Academy aims to ensure the sustainability of implementation of gender budgeting in Ukraine

For two weeks, civil servants of the Ministry of Finance of Ukraine (Minfin) studied at the Academy of gender responsive budgeting (GRB Academy), organized by the Project “Gender Budgeting in Ukraine” with financial support of Sweden.

The GRB Academy is aimed at preparing a group of experts on the GRB issues in the Minfin. The Ministry of Finance is the main beneficiary of the project “Gender Budgeting in Ukraine” and is responsible for the implementation of GRB in Ukraine. There is a request for knowledge and information about the essence and methods of GRB implementation, as well as methods of dissemination of knowledge to other participants in the budget process. At the same time, there is a lack of experts who helped to disseminate the GRB experience, and who could also become a kind of institutionalization of knowledge and experience of the project after its completion.

The Academy contained three training modules: on gender equality; on gender responsive budgeting; on the methodology for conducting seminars/trainings.

After graduation, civil servants are expected to be able to disseminate the GRB experience, ensure the institutionalization of the GRB project knowledge and expertise after its completion, and play advisory function.
