On May 18, the regional Ukrainian Women’s Congress was held in Odesa. Gender Budgeting in Ukraine Project, which became one of the partners of the Ukrainian Women’s Congress, joined the organization and holding of the event.
At the Congress during the panel “Gender Responsive Budgeting: Successful Cases” the issue of implementing gender budgeting in Ukraine was discussed; the essence and ways of GRB implementation were defined as well as positive cases and the possibility of extending this instrument to meet the needs of women and men from different socio-economic groups were presented.
GRB Project Deputy Team Leader Olga Cherniuk, GRB Project national expert Oksana Kisselyova, representatives of Mykolayiv and Kherson regions – Olga Rotar, Deputy Director of the Finance Department, Chief of the Budget Management Unit of Mykolayiv Regional Administration, Yulia Zabrodkina, Local Consultant of the GRB Project in Mykolaiv region, Lyudmyla Kravchenko, Head of the Finance Unit of the Non-Production Sphere of the Finance Department of the Kherson Regional State Administration, Coordinator of the GRB Project activities in Kherson, and Liudmyla Makulina, Local Consultant of the GRB Project in Kherson region, participated in the event.
Olga Cherniuk and Liudmyla Kravchenko spoke during the panel “Gender Responsive Budgeting: Successful Cases”. They presented GRB as a tool to improve the efficiency of state and local budgets and to overcome gender gaps in various social and economic spheres, as well as the successful experience of the Project on implementation of gender budgeting in Ukraine.
